Gary John Tinlin.  Born 23 Nov 1986 in Northumberland Central District, son of ______ and ______ (Kidd) Tinlin [CR, obit.].  He died in an automobile accident on 10 Dec 2007 in Clifton, Northumberland [Morpeth Herald, 5 Jan 2008].  [He had an uncle, David Tinlin].  Children: Lewis.

George Tinlin.  Married Margarett Whitfeild on 22 Jan 1674 in Brampton Parish, Cumberland [reg.].  The register was difficult to read, but she may have been bur. on 5 Jan 1680, and he on 26 Feb 1687 in Brampton Parish [reg.].

George Tinline.  Married Margaret Emmerson on 21 Jan 1703 in Knarsdale Parish, Northumberland [IGI (could not find in reg.)].  They were living in Mosesland (?), Knarsdale Parish in Dec 1721, and in Slaggyford, Knarsdale Parish in Feb 1725 [reg.].  Children: Elizabeth, Margaret.

Hoptin Tinlin.  Married Mary Brown on 25 Jul 1831 in St. Leonard’s, New Malton Parish, Yorkshire [reg.].  She was a widow, and had been previously married to ______ Nesbitt [reg. or was her maiden name Nesbitt?].  At the time of their marriage, they were both living in New Malton Parish [reg.].  [A Mary Nesbitt married John Brown on 13 Jul 1810 at All Saints, Newcastle-upon-Tyne].  [His name could be Hopton or Hopkin].

Hugh Edward Tinling.  Chr. 1 Dec 1782 in St. Mary’s, Carlisle, Cumberland, son of James and Mary (Smith) Tinling [IGI as Tinning].

Ian Tinline.  Born [DR] in Bristol District (Gloucestershire), son of ______ and ______ (Hallows) Tinline [CR].

[One of the Ian Tinlins married Lisa Scott in [DR] in Brighton District (Sussex) (CR).].

[One of the Ian Tinlins married Rosalyn Watt in [DR] in North Tyneside District and runs the Haven Hotel, Rothbury, Northumberland (Internet).  She was living in Whitley Bay, Northumberland in 2003 (dir.)].

Isaac Tinling.  Son of ______ and Ann Tinling of Norwich, Norfolk [apprentice rec.].  In 1686 he was apprenticed to Thomas Crotch of Norwich, worstead weaver, for seven years [apprentice rec.].  He may be the Isaac Tendlin who married Margaret Matthews on about 5 Jul 1690 at St. John Timberhill, Norwich, and had a child, Ann Tingly, chr. 1 May 1692 at St. John de Sepulchre, Norwich [IGI].

Isaac John Tinling.  An Ensign on the Irish half pay, late of the Irish brigade, disbanded in 1798 [AL 1809].

Isabella Tinlin.  Married William James Hopps in 3rd quarter 1874 in Durham District (Durham) [CR].  She may have died before 1881 [cen.].  Unable to locate her in 1881 or 1891 censuses (but there are possibilities for her husband).  He is probably the William James Hopps who died in 3rd quarter 1893 in Durham District, age 57 [CR].

Isabella Tinlin.  Born c. 1867 [cen.].  In 1911 she was living in Bellingham District, Northumberland, apparently with members of the Kirkwhelpington family [cen. index].  Could be the wife of Robert Tinlin, born 1870.

Isabella Tinlin.  Born c. 1876 [calc.].  Died in 1st quarter 1943 in Northumberland West District, age 76 [CR].  Probably the same as next entry above.

Isabella Tinline.  Born c. 1886 [AA].  Lived at one time in Elswick East Terrace, Newcastle [AA]. She married ______ Wood [AA].  [Possibly really Isabella Tinline Henderson?]

James Tinling.  Married Margaret ______ [IGI].  Living in Chapel, Arthuret Parish, Cumberland in Mar 1694 [IGI].  She predeceased him [his will].  At the time of his death, he was living in Chapeltown, Arthuret Parish [will].  He was bur. on 16 Feb 1738 in Arthuret Parish (under the name James Tenning) [reg., will].  Children: Jane, Margaret, James, Elizabeth.

James Tinling.  Born c. 1705 in Arthuret Parish, Cumberland, son of James and Margaret Tinling [father’s will, IGI].  As James Tinning, he married Mary Blackurn on 2 Dec 1738 in Arthuret Parish, Cumberland [reg.].  At the time of their marriage, he was living in Easton, she was living in Laws [reg.].  He was a churchwarden in Arthuret Parish in 1740-41, and in 1741-42 (the latter under the name James Tining) [reg.].  Living in Easton, Arthuret Parish in Jan 1740, and in Chapeltown, Arthuret Parish in May 1742, Aug 1744 [IGI].  She was bur. on 10 Dec 1746 in Arthuret Parish, when her residence had been Chapeltown [reg.].  Children: Margaret, Mary, James.

James Tinling.  Chr. 26 Aug 1744 in Arthuret Parish, Cumberland, son of James and Mary (Blackurn) Tinling [IGI under Tinning].

James Tinling.  He married Mary Smith on 26 Jul 1772 in St. Mary’s, Carlisle, Cumberland [reg. as Tinning].  At the time of their marriage, they were both living in Carlisle [reg.].  They were living in Rickergate, St. Mary’s, Carlisle in Jul 1774, Dec 1775, Apr 1777, Oct 1777, Nov 1778, Nov 1779, Apr 1787 [reg.].  He was a shoemaker [reg.].  One of the "prinicpal inhabitants" of Carlisle, Cumberland in Jan 1776, when he was one of the signers (as James Tinning) of an address to King George III, "struck with Admiration of [his] Majesty's wise and lenient Measures" and "behold[ing] with Horror the base Innovations and black Ingratitude of rebellious Americans" [London Gazette, 2 Jan 1776, pg. 1].  Children: Ann, Jane, David, Hugh Edward, Mary, James (twin), John (twin) (2nd), Richard.  [His name is normally spelled Tinning, and this is how he wrote it himself.]

James Tinion.  Living in Aspatria, Cumberland in 1789 when he and his future wife had a natural child [IGI].  He married Jane Richmond on 28 Jan 1793 in St. Bees, Cumberland [IGI].  Their son’s surname was sometimes spelled Tinling.  Natural children: John.

James Tinling.  Born c. 1774-77 in Easton, Cumberland [calc., cen. (a James Tinnen was born in Arthuret Parish in 1774 and a James Tinning in 1775)].  In 1841 he was living in Brampton, Cumberland, working as a schoolmaster [cen.].  In 1851 he was living in Brampton, Cumberland, a widower, working as a grocer [cen.].  He died 20 Feb 1852 at Low Street, Brampton, Cumberland, age 77 [cert.].  Children: Mary.

James Tinling.  Chr. 12 Jul 1788 in St. Mary’s, Carlisle, Cumberland, son of James and Mary (Smith) Tinling [IGI as Tinning].  He was christened the same day as his brother John, so they may have been twins.

James Tinling.  In 1822 he was a groom in the service of T. Richardson, Esq., Kent Road, London [London Times, 24 Aug 1822, pg. 3].  He stabbed one of his master’s horses and was sent to jail for two months [Times].  The Times called him “a brutal fellow”.

James Tinling.  Chr. 2 Aug 1829 in Aspatria Parish, Cumberland, son of John and Sarah (Henderson) Tinling [reg.].  In 1861 he was living with his parents in Aspatria and was working as a sawyer [cen. as Tinnion].  Cannot locate in 1871 census index.

James Tinline.  Born c. 1838 [calc.].  Died 2nd quarter 1919 in Bellingham District (Northumberland), age 81 [CR]. 

James Tinlin.  Born c. 1843 in Ireland [?][cen.].  Living in Whalton, Northumberland as a lodger in 1871, occupation drainer [cen.]. 

James Tinlin.  Married Edith K. Hobbs in 4th quarter 1912 in Dover District (Kent) [CR].  She was born c. 1884 [calc.].  She died in 1st quarter 1955 in Tynemouth District, age 71 [CR].  Children: Sidney.

James Tinling.  Born 26 Oct 1890 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland [BSD].  He served in the Royal Navy during World War II, from 12 Apr 1917 until being invalided out on 14 Jun 1917 [BSD].  He received a pension [BSD].

James Tinlin.  Married Ellen Leishman in 2nd quarter 1911 in Hexham District (Northumberland) [CR].  She was born 9 Jan 1889 [CR].  They were living in Haltwhistle District (Northumberland) in 1913, 1916 [CR].  He was the Police Constable in Whitfield, Northumberland in 1914 [dir.].  On 22 Jul 1932 he was attacked and nearly killed at Prudhoe-on-Tyne by a man and his three sons who he had caught poaching [The Scotsman, 2 Nov 1932, page 6].  He received the King’s Police Medal awarded for gallantry on 31 Dec 1932 [London Gazette, 30 Dec 1932].  She died in 2nd quarter 1970 in Northumberland South District [CR].  Children: Janet, William.

James Tinline.  Born c. 1891 [calc.].  He died in 1st quarter 1959 in Gateshead District, age 67 [CR (should be Tinling?)].

James Tinlin.  Married Jennifer Banks in [DR] in Wakefield District [CR].  Children: Patrick George.

James Tinline.  Appointed managing director of Jowett and Sowry (Printers) in 1980 [London Times, 4 Jul 1980, pg. 25b].  Probably also the Jim Tinline mentioned in the London Times 22 Feb 1977 [not checked].

James B. Tinlin.  He married Brigid Gormley in [DR] in Aylesbury District (Buckinghamshire) [CR].  An architect living in Buckinghamshire in 2002 [Internet].  Children: Holly Elizabeth. 

James Robert Tinlin.  Born in [DR] in Northumberland Central District, son of David and Evelyn (Day) Tinlin [CR].  He was living in Blyth, Northumberland in 2003 [dir.].

Jamima Tinline.  Born 1st quarter 1866 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne [CR].  Died 4th quarter 1867 (spelled Jemima) in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, age 2 [CR].

Jane Tinling.  Married George Tailforth on 19 Nov 1719 in Haltwhistle Parish, Northumberland [reg.].  At the time of their marriage, he was living in Brearwood and she was living in Hanamas (?), both in Haltwhistle Parish [reg.].

Jane Tinling.  She was a Quaker, a member of the Gracechurch Street Meeting in London [reg.].  She died at the "latter end of 10th month" (October) 1764, and was buried 2 Nov 1764 in the Friends Burial Ground at Winchmore Hill [reg.].

Jane Tinlin.  Appears on a tithe list from Easter 1787, abode Ray, Kirkwhelpington, Northumberland [reg.].

Jane Tinlin.  Chr. 6 Jun 1756 in Bishopwearmouth Parish, Durham, daughter of George and Isable (Horn) Tinlin [IGI].  She married Joseph Walker on 4 Apr 1781 in Sunderland Parish, Durham [IGI].  No children are listed for them in Sunderland Parish [IGI].  She is apparently the Jane Tinland who married John Finley on 7 Jan 1783 in Sunderland Parish [IGI (but under her maiden name?)].

Jane Tinling.  Married Robert Short on 28 Oct 1781 in Kirklinton Parish, Cumberland [BT].  At the time of their marriage, he was living in Whamtown (?) and she was living in Hawberry [BT].  They were living in Kirklinton in 1782-88 [IGI].  He, or another Robert Short, married Jane Carruthers before Oct 1791 [IGI].
