"Inquest on Mrs. Vetch. Death from
heart failure. The inquest on the body of Mrs. Janet
Oliver Vetch who lived in No. 1, Hyde Park-gate,
Kensington-road, W., was opened before Mr. H.R. Oswald,
the coroner for West London, at Hammersmith Coroner's
Court yesterday. Mrs. Vetch, who was the widow of
Major-General W.F. Vetch, was found by a workman lying
dead at the bottom of the stairs at her house on
Monday.
Dr. F. Travers, Police
Divisional Surgeon, said he arrived at the house at 8
a.m., when he found Mrs. Vetch dead. There were
indications of heart trouble, and she had been liable to
sudden death for the last five years. Death was due to
heart failure following undernourishment, exposure on
the cold, damp, staircase, and the fall, which induced
wounds and hemorrhage. He did not think death was due
to the wounds, but to heart failure.
The coroner recorded a
verdict of 'Death from natural causes'."
