The Tinline Family of Ancrum, Roxburghshire

John Tinline.  First mentioned in Kirklands, Ancrum Parish, Roxburghshire in 1695, when he was taxed for one hearth [TL as Tinling].  He was living as a tenant in Kirklands from Feb 1704 to Feb 1717, except for a short time in Richlands, Ancrum around 1711 [reg.].  See several entries in Ancrum church register Apr 1712 – Jul 1714, when he was exonerated of a charge of fornication brought against him by the church [reg.].  He was still living in Sep 1729, but was deceased before 24 Sep 1738 [daughters’ marriage records].  He had children:

1. George Tinline.  Son of John Tinline of Kirklands, Ancrum, Roxburghshire [reg.].  He was living in Ancrum, Roxburghshire in Jan 1720 when he was called before the church for the sin of fornication with Isabel Curry [reg.].  He married Isabella White on 14 Jul 1732 in Ancrum [reg. (says Whyte)].  Living as a tenant in Kirklands, Ancrum in Apr 1733 through Mar 1739, and as a tenant in Ancrum in Mar 1741 through Jun 1753 [reg.].  He had a son, Thomas, by Isabel Curry and ten children by his wife Isabella White:
