He married Elizabeth Bynoe Evelyn on 23 Jun 1812 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.]. She was chr. 31 Jul 1793 in Christ Church, Barbados, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Bynoe) Evelyn [corr., IGI]. He succeeded his father as Storekeeper of Grenada in 1813 [GW]. In 1815 he transferred to Barbados and was Storekeeper in the Ordnance Office there [GW, reg.]. They were living in Christ Church in Dec 1816, Sep 1819, Apr 1822, Jan 1824, Jun 1825, Nov 1826 (in Cotton Coast), Jun 1833 (in Bridge Town) [reg.]. He was a Judge of the Assistant Court of Appeal [Brandow]. They were both bur. in 1871 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.]. They had children:
1. John Tinling. Born in 1813 in the West Indies (probably in Grenada, but not listed in the Grenada reg.) [cen., NH]. He married Caroline Waith Evelyn on 5 Dec 1839 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.]. She was chr. 1 Feb 1821 in Christ Church, Barbados, daughter of Charles and Jane (Waith) Evelyn [cen., IGI]. In 1842 they were living at Ellerstic, in 1843 at Cotton Coast, in 1845 at Trafalgar Cot, and in 1847 at Pleasant Cot, all in Christ Church [reg.]. In 1842-47 he was working as a clerk in the Military Secretary's Office [reg.]. In 1849 he was the Clerk of the Court of Appeals [daughter’s birth record]. [A John Tinling died in 1854 in St. Michael’s, Barbados, and another John Tinling died in 1854 in Christ Church, Barbados].
1a. Clara Matilda Tinling. Chr. 4 Jan 1842 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.]. She married Rev. Henry Sealy on 30 Jan 1872 in Christ Church [IGI, NH]. They had no children [NH].
2a. Dolton St. Clair Tinling. Chr. 6 Jun 1843 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.]. He died unmarried in 1877 and was bur. in Christ Church, Barbados [reg., NH].
3a. Isaac John Tinling. Born 17 Oct 1844, and chr. 7 Jan 1845 in Christ Church, Barbados [BBT, reg.]. He married Annie Jemima Armstrong on 15 Aug 1876 in Christ Church, Barbados [IGI]. She was born in 1847 and chr. 12 Jun 1848 in Christ Church, daughter of John Charles and Mary Rebecca (Waterman) Armstrong [BBT, reg.]. She died 28 Jun 1909 [BBT]. He died 11 Jun 1921 [BBT]. 4a. Edwin Augustus Tinling. Born 17 Sep 1846, and chr. 2 Jan 1847 in Christ Church, Barbados [cen., reg., death cert.]. He married Ella Clarissa McGreedy Bynoe on 21 Jan 1880 in Christ Church [IGI]. She was born 24 Feb 1857 and chr. 7 May 1857 in Christ Church, Barbados, daughter of William Armstrong and Elizabeth Ann (Armstrong) Bynoe [cen., IGI, death cert. (says 1856)]. They were living in Barbados in Jan 1891 [IGI]. He immigrated to the United States in 1892 and she followed in 1894 [cen.]. In 1900 they were living in Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, and he was working as an insurance agent [cen. under Tendel]. She died 11 Feb 1910 in Cleveland [cert.]. In 1910 he was living in Cleveland, Ohio, working as an insurance agent, and was a widower [cen.]. In 1920 he was living in Cleveland, Ohio, a widower [cen.]. He died 22 Mar 1923 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio [cert.]. They had children:

2b. Edward Stanley Tinling. Born 15 Jan 1891 in Bridgetown, Christ Church, Barbados [IGI, CS says born 21 Jan 1891, Anc. says 12 Jan]. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1892 or 1894 [cen.]. In 1900 he was living with his parents in Cleveland, Ohio [cen.]. In 1910 he was living with his father in Cleveland and was working as an assistant at a bank [cen.]. He married Louise Vera Ford in 1914 in Cleveland [AF, IGI]. She was born 26 Jan 1894 in Pennsylvania, daughter of James and Clara B. (Frederick) Ford [cen., CS]. They were living in Cleveland in Jul 1916 and in Lakewood, Ohio in Jul 1918 [IGI]. In 1920 they were living in Lakewood, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, and he was working as a bookkeeper at a steel mill [cen.]. 3b. John Evelyn Phillips Tinling. Born 17 Aug 1892 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg. index, SS, NH]. Immigrated to the United States in 1892 or 1894 [cen.]. In 1900 he was living with his parents in Cleveland, Ohio [cen.]. In 1910 he was living in Cleveland with his father, and was working as a salesman at a grocery store [cen.]. He married Helen Elizabeth Kraushaar in c. 1913 in Cuyahoga Co., Ohio [cen., NH, VR index]. She was born 30 Sep 1894 in Ohio, daughter of Oscar and Kate Kraushaar [cen., SS]. 5a. Ellen Tinling. Born 10 Sep 1849 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg. (chr. record?)]. She married Everette Fitzallen Evelyn on 5 Sep 1872 in Christ Church, Barbados [NH, IGI]. He was born c. 1848 in Barbados [Anc.]. They were living in Christ Church in 1873 [IGI]. On 20 Apr 1904, they both arrived in New York City from Cuba [Anc.]. She died 1 Apr 1905 in Kings Co., New York, age 56 [VR index]. In Apr 1907 he was an accountant living in Bridgetown, Barbados, a widower, when he landed in New York City on his way to visit his son George in Brooklyn [Anc.]. In 1910 he was living at 426 Cumberland St., Brooklyn, a widower on a British Government Pension, and had eight children living with him [cen.]. 6a. Charles Edward or Evelyn or Edmund Tinling. Born 26 Dec 1850 in Barbados and chr. 10 May 1851 in Christ Church, Barbados [NH, IGI as Charles Edward, BSD as Charles Edmund]. In 1870 he was living in a boarding house in Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York and was working as a store clerk [cen.]. He married 1st Lucinda Petry on 26 Apr 1876 in Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois [Internet, London Times, 11 Dec 1900 as Lucinia Petre]. She was born c. 1852 in France [cen.]. In 1880 she was living in St. Louis, Missouri, was working as a teacher, and was listed as divorced [cen.]. In 1890 she was living in New York City and working as a teacher [as Lucinia P. Tinling - Internet]. According to his testimony, she died between 1892 and 1896 in Peru [Times]. He served in the British Navy from 1 Jul to 8 Dec 1879 [BSD]. He married 2nd (bigamously) Clara Anne (Gravely) Burfield, a widow with three children, on 17 Sep 1890 at St. Peter’s Parish Church, Brighton, Sussex [CR as Charles Evelyn, Times]. She was chr. 29 Jul 1855 in Bolney, Sussex, daughter of William Henry and Owena (Street) Gravely and had been previously married to James Moulton Burfield, an artist [cen., IGI]. Cannot locate on 1891 census (but they were in the U.S. for part of that year) [Times]. In 1901 she was living in Chelsworth, Suffolk under the name Burfield [cen.]. In 1893 he assumed the name Charles Clarence Widdrington Tinling-Taylor [Times]. He married 3rd (bigamously) Elizabeth Inez Weizel on 7 Jul 1896 at St. George’s Church, Bloomsbury, London [Times, CR under Tinting-Taylor]. He died 1st quarter 1901 in Strand District (London), age 47 [CR]. He had a child by his first wife, which he claimed also died in Peru (but she had no child living with her in 1880) [Times].

7a. Mary Elizabeth Reece Tinling. Chr. 25 Mar 1853 in Christ Church, Barbados [IGI]. She married Adalbert Augustus Evelyn in 1878 in Christ Church, Barbados [NH, reg. index]. He was born in 1851 and chr. 13 Jan 1852 in Christ Church, Barbados, son of John and Mary (Thompson) Evelyn [IGI]. He died 7 Nov 1923, bur. Westbury Cemetery, St. Michaels, Barbados [Internment.net]. A Mamie Evelyn, born in 1853, died 1 Jan 1904, bur. Westbury Cemetery [Internment.net].
2. Jane Tinling. Born 15 Sep 1814 in Grenada [reg.]. She was bur. 24 Oct 1816 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.].
3. Elizabeth Tinling. Born 10 Nov 1815 in Grenada [reg.]. She married William James Reece on 10 Sep 1833 in Christ Church (also in St. Thomas, Barbados?) [reg., IGI]. At the time of their marriage, he was living in Christ Church, and she was living in St. Michaels [reg.]. He was chr. 23 Nov 1807 in St. Thomas, Barbados, son of Abraham and Sarah Elizabeth (Bayley) Reece [IGI]. He lived at Wilcox Plantation, Barbados [Brandow]. They were living in Christ Church in 1835, in St. Thomas in 1837-47, and again in Christ Church in 1848-58 [IGI]. She was killed getting out of a train at night at Windsor Station, Barbados [Brandow].
4. Charles Tinling. Born 10 Nov 1816, and chr. 10 Dec 1816 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.]. He married 1st ______ Michall [NH]. He married 2nd Mary Woodley Dallas on 11 Oct 1860 in St. Michael, Barbados [IGI]. She was chr. 8 Aug 1838 in Christ Church, Barbados, daughter of Dr. John Isaac and Eliza Dallas, and had previously been married to Adam Ferrie [cen., NH, Hamilton Spectator, 20 Apr 2007]. Living in Christ Church, Barbados in Jan 1864 - Aug 1874 [IGI]. He was Postmaster of Barbados [PRO]. He was bur. in 1875 in St. Michael, Barbados [reg.]. In 1881 she was living in Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Ontario, a widow [cen.]. She died 20 Sep 1882 in Hamilton, Ontario, age 44 [cert.]. They (she?) were bur. in the Church of the Ascension Cemetery, Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Ontario [OCFA]. They had children:
1a. Charles Widdrington Tinling. Born 17 Nov 1863 in Boulais (?), and chr. 26 Jan 1864 in St. Michael, Barbados [IGI, NH, EI]. He immigrated to Canada in 1876 [cen.]. In 1881 he was living with his mother in Hamilton, Ontario and was working as a clerk [cen.]. He married 1st Louisa Brett Georgina Ryall on 8 Aug 1888 at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Hamilton, Ontario [KB, cert.]. She was born 1 Feb 1865 in Stannellon (?), Ontario, daughter of Dr. Isaac and Eliza Ryall [KB, death cert.]. In 1891 they were living in Hamilton, Ontario and he was working as a dealer in drugs [cen.]. In 1901 they were living in Hamilton, Ontario, and he was working as a wholesale druggist [cen.]. She died at the birth of a premature child on 15 Mar 1902 in Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Ontario, age 37, and was bur. there in Hamilton Cemetery [cert., OCFA]. He married 2nd Mary Stuart Turner on 15 Nov 1905 in Hamilton, Ontario [NH, OMR]. She was born 18 Jan 1874 in Hamilton, Ontario, daughter of Alexander and Margaret Jane (Strang) Turner [cert.]. Cannot locate any of the family on the 1911 Canadian census [cen.]. He arrived in New York City from Liverpool, England on 3 May 1913, age 49 [EI]. He was then a merchant, a Canadian citizen, and his residence was 456 Mackay Street, Montreal [EI]. He and his second wife arrived in New York City on 29 Sep 1916 from Liverpool [EI]. He was then a merchant, and they listed Sir Edward Evans as their closest relative or friend in England [EI]. They arrived in New York City on 26 Jan 1920, at which time he was a wholesale druggist [EI]. They arrived in New York City from Southampton, England on 26 Sep 1922, at which time their residence was 177 Edgehill Road, Montreal [EI (their address since at least 1917 – CWGC)]. In 1922 he was President of the National Drug and Chemical Company of Canada [Who's Who]. He died 17 Mar 1928 in Gibraltar, during a cruise of the Mediterranean, his body being returned to Canada [The Storied Province of Quebec]. They were both bur. in Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Ontario [OCFA]. He had children by his first wife:
1b. Katie Ryall Tinling. Born 19 Aug 1889 in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario [cert.]. In 1891 and 1901 she was living with her parents in Hamilton [cen.]. She married William Stewart on 5 Nov 1913 at St. George's Anglican Church, Montreal [cert.]. He was born 5 Aug 1884 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, son of William and Eliza (Shearer) Stewart [Can. Archive, marr. cert.]. In Nov 1915 they were living at 9 Selkirk Ave., Montreal, Quebec and he was working as an advocate [Can. Archive]. He was a Lieutenant in the 13th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment) [CWGC]. He died on 20 Oct 1918, age 34, and was bur. in Auberchicourt British Cemetery, Nord, France [CWGC]. At the time she was living at 177 Edgehill Road, Montreal (the home of her parents) [CWGC]. In Sep 1935 she was living at 32 Edgehill Road, Westmount, Quebec and had not remarried [Anc.].
2b. Dorothy Evelyn Tinling. Born 20 Nov 1891 in Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Ontario [ODR, KB (cannot locate birth cert.)]. She died 20 Nov 1891 in Hamilton and was bur. in Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Ontario [cert., OCFA]. It appears that her birth date may be incorrect here, since it said she suffered from lung congestion for one week [cert.]. The certificate either says she was 8 months or 8 minutes at her death (“8 mis”?) [cert.]. She may be the daughter named Louisa who is listed with them on the 1891 census (dated 9 Apr), age 0 [cen.].
3b. Charles Burnaby Tinling, Lt. Born 30 Mar 1893 in Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Ontario [cert.]. In 1901 he was living with his parents in Hamilton [cen.]. He earned a B.A. from McGill University, and passed with honors his third year in medicine [CWGC]. He was a sergeant-major of No. 3 Canadian Hospital for nearly two years, and then took his commission in the 42nd Royal Highlanders of Canada, where he became a lieutenant [CWGC]. He earned dispatches during World War I [CWGC]. He was killed at the Battle of Vimy Ridge on 15 Apr 1917, age 24, bur. Barlin Communal Cemetery Extension, Pas de Calais, France [CWGC, Storied Province of Quebec]. There is also a burial (marker?) listed for him in Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Ontario [OCFA].
4b. George Evelyn Tinling, Capt. Born 15 Apr 1895 in Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Ontario [cert.]. In 1901 he was living with his parents in Hamilton [cen.]. He was educated at the Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario [London Gazette, 6 Jan 1915]. A captain in the 1st Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment [CWGC]. He led “A” Company of the 1st Battalion at the Battle of Broodseinde on 4 Oct 1917, near Poelcapelle and was killed in battle the same day [Internet, London Times, 11 Oct 1917, pg. 1, GRO War Deaths]. He was awarded the Military Cross [Internet]. He was bur. in the Tyne Cot Memorial Cemetery, Zonnebeke, Belgium [CWGC]. There is also a burial (marker?) listed for him in Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Ontario [OCFA].
2a. Henry John Tinling. Chr. 8 Feb 1866 in Christ Church, Barbados [IGI, cen. calc. is 1876]. In 1881 he was living with his mother in Hamilton, Ontario and was working as a clerk [cen.]. He married 1st Charlotte "Lottie" Ghent [Ben Gantt at Anc., son’s birth cert.]. She was born c. 1866 in Canada, daughter of Sampson Howell and Ruth Ann (Lovejoy) Ghent [Ben Gantt at Anc., cen.]. In 1887 he was working as the storekeeper of a shoe store [son’s birth cert.]. In 1891 his wife was living with her parents in Hamilton, Ontario [cen.]. Immigrated to the United States in 1894 [cen.]. Cannot locate in 1900 census index. He married 2nd Eudora K. Pettes [cen., his obit.]. She was born in Oct 1892 in New York [cen.]. John Tinling. Apparently a black man, working as an apprentice to Isaac John Tinling in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.]. He married Anna Maria Reece on 14 Sep 1837 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.]. Neither were able to sign their names, which makes it certain they were not members of Isaac John Tinling’s family [reg. (although he could possibly be a natural son of Isaac John Tinling)]. She was an apprentice of “Wilcox”, probably meaning Wilcox Plantation, where the Reece family lived [reg.]. They were living in Christ Church in Jul 1838, Aug 1840, May 1842, Feb 1846, Feb 1848 and in St. Michael, Barbados in Dec 1843 [reg., IGI]. In Jul 1838 he was working as a porter at Welcome Hall, and in Aug 1840 he was working as a domestic in Abbey [reg.]. Children: John Edward, Frederick, Elizabeth, Louisa, Samuel William, Maria Mercy. [A John Tinling died in 1854 in St. Michael’s, Barbados, and another John Tinling died in 1854 in Christ Church, Barbados].
